Essie B Robertson passed away on March 2, 2019. Born on March 25, 1934 in Luneburgh County, Virginia, Essie was the eldest daughter of the late Reverend Richard Watkins and the late Sally Watkins. Essie Robertson was employed at St Joseph’s Hospital as a LPN in the Pediatric Department for 27 years. She was a dedicated member and served on the Usher Auxiliary Board at Christ Temple Baptist Church for many years. Upon retirement, she accompanied her husband and relocated to Cumberland, Virginia. Essie became an active member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Virginia, where she resided. Essie enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, music and dancing. Essie Robertson will be dearly missed by all. Essie was predeceased by her loving husband Mac Donald Robertson of 27 years of marriage, 3 sisters; Alease Hand, Mary Jones, Anna Bethea; 1 brother, Ceaphus Watkins; 2 daughters, Madeline Covington, Patricia Ann Mickey and 1 great-granddaughter Bri’lyn Mickey. Surviving are the following; 2 brothers, Reverend Joseph Watkins (Dr. Mary “Pat” Watkins) of Maryland and Richard Thomas Watkins Jr; 1 son, Ollie Johnson Jr (Tee Johnson) of Baltimore, Maryland; 4 daughters; Joann Allen of Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Francis Freeman (Larry Freeman), Esther Boone and Berniece Jones of Hagerston, Maryland; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
