Alex Wilson entered this world on December 26, 1927, born of the union between Alexander and Janie Wilson. Alex, born in Wilmington, NC, was the youngest of 10 children: Janie B. Wilson, Anna M. Wilson, Alexander Wilson, Herbert Wilson, Josephine Wilson, Ruth Wilson, Jeremiah Wilson, Emma L. Wilson, and Catherine Wilson. Returned to God’s loving arms on December 22, 2016. While an infant, Alex or Al, as he is lovingly known to family and friends relocated to New York as his family sought a better life and more job opportunities. At the young age of 18, Al joined the US Air Force where his ambition and dedication allowed him to quickly advance up the ranks and achieve the title of Staff Sargent. Through his hard work and dedication he was able to become an engineer in the armed forces. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. military, Al began a lifetime career as a Foreman, managing numerous employees of various plastic and textile companies until his retirement in 2001. Al was a loving and devoted father to his family, children, and friends, and was always available to lend a helping hand when needed. Al was a Christian and was recently baptized in the name of Jesus by his loving Pastor, Pastor Davidson. Al had many hobbies that brought him joy such as fishing and boating, he was an avid reader, an expert at crossword puzzles, and loved working as a handyman around the house taking on numerous household projects. He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories, His wife Samella (Garrett) Wilson, his children: Janice Powell Rollins, Victor Wilson, Anthony Wilson Powell, (by Minnie Wilson); Audrey Wilson Carter, Christine Wilson Scott, Alex Wilson, Jr., (by Bess Wilson); step-children Theodore Ervin, Marvin Ervin, Bernice Henry, Franzella Wilson, Katena Robinson, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren, 4 step great grands, nieces, nephews, brother in law Jimmylee Garrett, other former brother and sister in laws, family and friends.
