Lorna Morine Johnson

Mrs. Lorna Morine Johnson was born in Lucea, Hanover, Jamaica, West Indies on October 7, 1943 to the late Arnold Rose and Mina Harvey. She was educated in the Jamaica School System. She completed her school instruction at the Clifton School, in Hanover, Jamaica. She then went on to marry the love of her life, Welton Johnson, in 1970. When she first came to United States in 1972, she came to join her husband and family in Clifton, NJ. Together they had 3 beautiful children, Courtney (Barry), Steve, and Jennifer. While rearing her children, she worked in different trades in the industrial field, until she secured employment in the healthcare profession. She was employed at Daughters of Miriam Nursing Home in Clifton, NJ, before moving on to Chestnut Hill Nursing home in Passaic NJ. She then obtained a long-term position as a Nursing Assistant at St Mary’s Hospital in Passaic NJ in 1984. She lovingly cared for a vast number of women and babies over the next 23 years working in the Maternity Ward, before retiring in 2007. Immediately after retiring she then officially obtained her CNA license at the HoHoKus School at Bergen Regional Medical Center. Due to her love of helping others, she accepted part time employment at CareOne Skilled Nursing Facility in Paramus, NJ, where she diligently worked until 2011. Lorna was the kindest, most loving individual who enjoyed feeding her friends and family with home cooked Jamaican recipes. Whether it was “Fried Fish Fridays” or Sunday dinners at her home in Clifton, you knew you were going to leave with a full belly, and a good laugh. Lorna became a long-term congregant of the St John’s Episcopal Church, where she would proudly be in attendance every Sunday for many years. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Howard Samuels, of Toronto, Canada, and Lloyd (Pat) Rose, of Jamaica, WI. Lorna leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of 52 years, Welton Johnson, of Clifton NJ; 2 sons, Courtney (Barry) Johnson of Miramar, FL, and Steve Johnson (daughter in law Evaruth Johnson) of Pleasant Hill, CA; one daughter, Jennifer Rouse (fiancé Evens Aristilde) of Maplewood NJ; one surviving brother, Aston Rose (sister in law Setline Rose) of Pembroke Pines, FL; one surviving sister, Marlene Harvey of Norcross, GA; 6 grandchildren, Brittany Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Ashley Rouse, Cardell (CJ) Rouse, Kendric Rouse, and Samara Johnson; one great grand, Serene Winters; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
